Sheffield United head to Wembley on Sunday for their first FA Cup Semi-Final appearance since 2003, when they face Hull City under the Arch.

It's been a great Cup campaign for Nigel Clough's team, who started out their 'Route To Wembley' in the First Round Proper last November with a thrilling 3-2 win against League One rivals Colchester United.

And they were forced to show their resilience back then, as after taking a 2-0 lead in Essex they were pegged back to 2-2 and had to rely on an 81st minute penalty from Chris Porter to secure progress.

The Second Round Proper brought another away tie as the Blades were paired with non-League side Cambridge United, themselves riding high in the Conference.

But an early goal from Jose Baxter settled the nerves at the Abbey Stadium and Jamie Murphy added a second to complete a 2-0 win and a place in the Third Round draw.

When they were drawn out away against Premier League side Aston Villa, many expected United's Cup dreams to come to an end in early January, but the first of this season's upsets came at Villa Park.

But when Murphy put the Blades ahead, the belief began to grow and despite Villa equalising that opener, a fine goal from Ryan Flynn in the 81st minute brought about one of this season's biggest upsets.

There was another top flight opponent for United to overcome in the Fourth Round Proper, with Fulham relying on a second-half equaliser at Bramall Lane to rescue a replay after Porter had put the hosts ahead.

And the Blades upset the odds again in the replay at Craven Cottage, as a goal from Shaun Miller in the last minute of extra-time prevented the lottery of penalties and earned them a Fifth Round match with Nottingham Forest.

With Forest heading to South Yorkshire on the back of an impressive run in the Championship, it looked as though the Blades had been dealt another tough tie.

And when they found themselves 1-0 down at half time in that game, it took a fantastic second-half comeback to turn things around as a goal from former England U20 captain Conor Coady levelled things up.

Porter then added to his growing collection of Cup goals with a late brace to prevent a replay at the City Ground and send United into the quarter finals.

They faced another Championship club there, with Charlton Athletic making the trip to Bramall Lane and it took another second half show to secure a 2-0 win thanks to goals from Flynn and John Brayford.

So United arrive at Wembley on Sunday having played the most number of Cup games this season in the last four and will be hoping to go one further this time to register their place in The Final on Saturday 17 May.
