England U19s kick-off 2014 with Turkey game in Chester

England U19s to face Turkey on 5 March 2014

England U19s will begin their 2014 calendar with an international fixture against Turkey in Chester, it has been announced.

The fixture - on Wednesday 5 March - will form a key part of the Young Lions' preparation period as they get ready to host the Elite Qualifying Round of the UEFA U19 Championship in May 2014.

Noel Blake's side welcome Scotland, Montenegro and Ukraine to England next spring, and with only the first-placed team securing a passage to the finals in Hungary next summer, the U19s will be keen to make every second count against Turkey.

The match at Chester will be the second time the two nations have played at U19s level in a year, after a Calum Chambers goal proved the difference when the pair met in Telford in March 2013.

Meanwhile, Chester's business development manager Dave Riche, added: "This is an honour for the club to be asked to host the fixture and we are keen to showcase our facilities and prove just how far this fans’ owned club has come in three years to be competing as a venue on the international stage.

"The aim is to pack the ground to capacity on the night and put us firmly back on the footballing map."

Admission is £3 for adults, £1 for children and OAPs and for groups of 15 or more (bookable in advance only) it is 50p admission.

Tickets will be on sale at the stadium from Monday 13 January 2014.
