The Only Way Is Essex star Mark Wright spoke of a "dream come true" after winning the man of the match award at Wembley Stadium.

Huge football fan Wright said he was delighted to be involved as BBC Radio 1’s Nick Grimshaw’s Radio One-derers took on Olly Hot-Murs underneath the arch, as part of the Football Association's 150th anniversary celebrations.

Wright - a distinguished non-league footballer and a former England C international - said: “The FA is everything. As an Englishman who supports football, it is football. The FA is football.

“I love The FA Cup, any level of football, England and Wembley, it is just amazing what they do.

“Today was a good chance to publicise a bit of that and we’ve really enjoyed it.”

Wright scored a dramatic last-ditch equaliser for Radio One-derers forcing the tie into a shoot-out after the sides had fought out a 3-3 draw, and despite converting his spot-kick, Wright finished on the losing side – but it was still a day he will not forget in a hurry.

“All in all it was a good game. Olly’s team won, they are a good team, but it was close.

“I’ve played for England C but I have never played at Wembley, so it’s a kid’s dream when you are growing up to play and score here and I thoroughly enjoyed it.”

On his goal, Wright added: “The ball just came through, and I just thought I can’t take a touch as there was only about 10 seconds left, so I just span on it and hit the target and it was a goal.

“I was quite nervous when it came to my penalty because everyone had scored before me.”

Wright, who won his only England cap when he appeared for the C team in 2008, says he is a big fan of Roy Hodgson’s men.

And following Friday’s World Cup draw that saw the Three Lions grouped with Italy, Uruguay and Costa Rica, Wright believes they should have nothing to fear in Brazil.

He said: “I think the draw is alright. We’ve got a chance.

“I don’t think we need to look at the other teams too much, we should just concentrate on what we need to do.

“At the end of the day if you are going to go there and win it, you have got to play everyone anyway so we might as well beat them early than later on.”
