David Moyes will be looking to win his first trophy in Sunday's Community Shield

David Moyes' Manchester United debut could set a new Wembley Stadium attendance record at the Community Shield on Sunday.

The current Premier League champions are homing in on Southampton's total of 44,385 for the single biggest allocation taken up by a club since Wembley reopened its doors in 2007.

The Saints had Alan Pardew at the helm when they set the record in a 4-1 win over Carlisle United in the Johnston's Paint Trophy Final three years ago.

Manchester United have already sold 42,800 tickets as Moyes aims to bag his first piece of managerial silverware against FA Cup winners Wigan Athletic.
