Tom Martin is relishing leading Barnes Albion out in their first-ever FA Carlsberg Sunday Cup Final.

Mick McCarthy’s charges from Middlesex will take on 2011 winners Oyster Martyrs at Burton Albion’s Pirelli Stadium and Martin has praised his team-mates for their history-making run to The Final.

He said: “I can't wait for it. There's not a day gone by that at some point I am not thinking about The Final. I keep daydreaming about having a major impact on the game, be that a goal-line clearance or scoring the winner.

“I think we have done fantastically well to get this far. This is only our second year in The Sunday Cup but we've always believed we can do well. We have played some very good sides on the way especially in the last three rounds, knocking out last year’s winners Hetton Lyons.

“This is the highest level you can get to in Sunday football and we’re all taking it very seriously.”

Martin acknowledges Oyster Martyrs’ pedigree in this competition, but insists Albion will not simply roll over in what he says is the biggest game of his career.

He added: “I don’t know a great deal about Oyster Martyrs, other than the fact they must be a very good side to have won this competition in the past.

“We will be treating them like any other side and give them the respect they deserve.

“But we haven't come this far to go home without giving them a good game. Win or lose we want to leave with our heads held high.”
