Funding

Take a shot at applying for a grant to help with the running of your club.

1. National bodies such as Sport England and the Football Foundation offer specific grants to support existing and new participation schemes. Check out our helpful links below to find out more.

2. McDonald’s KickStart now offers clubs the chance to apply for a grant between £500 and £2,500 to benefit your club and help develop your players or community.  For more information and how to apply, please visit McDonald’s KickStart.

3. Many big corporations will run grant schemes in the communities where their branches, factories or distribution centres are based. Look at a directory of local businesses and check out their websites for ‘community’ sections, where details will be listed.

Local authorities also often run grant schemes to support getting children or young adults from deprived neighbourhoods into sport. Check out your local authority’s website or call their sport and leisure department.

4. If you are fundraising, ask club members to speak to their employers to see if they run a ‘match-funding’ scheme. Many businesses offer to match the funds raised by staff members pound-for-pound, an easy way to double your money!

5. There are several websites that offer up-to-date information on grants available to communities and sports clubs. One such website is www.cash-4-clubs.com that has some information specifically for sports clubs. Remember that many of these advice sites are businesses looking for income, so be sure to check all terms and conditions before signing up for anything.

6. Most County FA development teams have access to a computer programme called Grantfinder, that allows funding searches to be carried out which are tailored to a specific project. Funding advice is updated so that the advice offered to clubs is bang up to date.
