Developing Facilities



The successful delivery of a facilities project relies on a good project brief with clear aims and objectives from the outset.

There are eight distinct phases to the project life-cycle. The club needs to ensure the facility build or renovation keeps in line with the requirements and budget at every stage.

Technical Standards



The FA is committed to improving football facilities at all levels of the game and provides guidance to all clubs in the National Game

This includes having the correct pitch sizes, goalpost dimensions, outline maintenance plans, performance standards, design information and technical guidance.

Funding



Funding is available upon application, subject to meeting certain criteria, from the Football Foundation.

Funded by The Football Association, the Premier League and the Government, the Foundation directs £36m every year into grassroots sport. New Expressions of Interest for those who want to apply for facility funding are now being accepted.

Ground Grading



Improvements to facilities in the National League System are an important part of the sustainability and development of clubs wishing to adhere to the standards and requirements of The FA’s Ground Grading.

The FA advocates the implementation of a Facilities Development Plan for all clubs within the National League System.
