THE FA GRASSROOTS COACHING BURSARY

The FA Grassroots Coaching Bursary is a funding initiative set up to support our aim of increasing diversity among FA Level 3 (UEFA B) qualified coaches in England.

If you’re a female coach and/or a coach from a Black, Asian or Minority Ethnic background (BAME) and hold an FA Level 2 qualification, this could be the next step in your coaching journey.

What do you get from The FA Level 3 (UEFA B) in Coaching Football Bursary?

APPLYING

Your application is only relevant towards this round of funding for The FA Level 3 (UEFA B) in Coaching Football.

It is a very popular initiative and spaces are limited, therefore submission of an application doesn’t guarantee that you will receive a bursary.

The FA’s decision to award bursaries is final and you will notified of an outcome within four weeks of the closing date.

Completing the application should take around ten minutes and before you start, please make sure you have the following to hand:

  • Your action plan from The FA Level 2 in Coaching Football
  • A completed personal statement (part of The FA Level 2 in Coaching Football qualification

FAQs

The FA Coaching Bursary Programme is designed to support more coaches from under-represented communities with a financial contribution towards an FA course application.

Successful applicants will be awarded a bursary of £600 toward the full cost of The FA Level 3 (UEFA B) in Coaching Football.

Receiving a bursary however doesn’t guarantee a place on the course, recipients are still required to apply for courses in the same way as non-bursary candidates.


The bursary is for female coaches and coaches of Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic origin.

A member of our bursary team will be in touch within four weeks of the closing date.

You have two years to use the bursary once it has been awarded.

No. By applying to the bursary programme, you are applying for a financial contribution towards an FA coaching course.

If you are successful with your application, you will still be required to go through the regular application procedures.

Once you have found the course you would like to join, all you are required to do is follow the standard application process, when prompted, please inform your County FA that you hold a UEFA B bursary.

FA Licensed Coaches’ Club members may be eligible for discounted course costs through your County FA, which means the bursary’s contribution will be towards a lower figure than non-FA Licensed Coaches’ Club members.
