Register as an Overseas Agent, Lawyer or Close Relation
As well as taking the examination and becoming a FA Licensed Agent, you can also register with The FA as a Registered Lawyer, Registered Close Relation or Registered Overseas Agent to become a FA Authorised Agent. There is also the option to conduct agency activity as an Exempt Solicitor.
Exempt Solicitors
As an Exempt Solicitor you must be part of a practice which is regulated by the Solicitors Regulations Authority. No registration is required but you must then enter into Exempt Solicitor Terms or Representation with the party you wish to represent. Full details of this can be found in Appendix III of The FA Football Agents Regulations.
Registered Lawyers
Once you are registered as a lawyer you can act as a football agent in England. To become a Registered Lawyer you are required to be regulated by the by the Solicitors Regulation Authority or the Bar Council or any equivalent foreign bar or legal regulatory body.
To register as a lawyer you need to submit the AG5/L form (see resources section below) to the Financial Regulation team by post, fax or e-mail.
Registering is free of charge and you will not receive any licence, only an e-mail notification containing your registration number. Your name and organisation will also be listed on The FA website list of Authorised Agents.
As a Registered Lawyer your are entitled to refer to yourself as ‘Registered Lawyer under The FA Football Agents Regulations’
Overseas Agents
If you are an Agent licensed by a National Association other than The FA, you are required to register as an Overseas Agent before you can conduct agency activity in England.
This can be done by submitting the AG5/OA form (see resources section below) to the Financial Regulation team by post, fax or e-mail.
Once this has been processed you will receive confirmation of your registration (and registration number) by e-mail. Applications are usually processed within 3 working days.

Close Relations
If you are the close relation (Player's parent, legal guardian, person with parental responsibility, sibling or spouse) of a player and wish to represent your family member, you are required to register with The FA as a close relation. To do this please complete and return the AG5/CR form (see resources section below).
Please note that in accordance with FA regulations no payment is to be made to the Close Relation by the Player, or by or to any other party, either directly or indirectly, in respect of them acting in the capacity of Agent for the Player. This must be declared for each and every negotiation which they are involved in using the AG6 form (see resources section below).
