Finals call for Young Lions
England beat Norway 3-0 to qualify for UEFA European Women's U19 Championship
England squeezed through to the UEFA European Women’s U19 Championship Finals following a 3-0 win over Norway.
Both nations finished the Elite Round with six points but Mo Marley’s side topped Group 4 due to their superior head-to-head record. Norway also progressed as best runner-up.
We opened the qualifiers with an agonising 5-4 defeat to Serbia but bounced back in style to comfortably beat Hungary 3-0 on Saturday.
Katie Zelem fired the Young Lions into the lead against Norway in the 36th minute and Ellie Stewart doubled the advantage on 65.
Three Lions captain Nikita Parris wrapped up the win, and a place at Wales 2013, with five minutes remaining.
The Finals will take place between 19 and 31 August.
Marley led the U19s to their first-ever European Women’s U19 crown in Belarus in 2009. A goal apiece from Toni Duggan and Jordan Nobbs, now both in the senior team, saw England beat Sweden 2-0 in the Final.
