England Under-21s are aiming to end Euro 2013 on a positive note
Jason Steele is hoping to end a disappointing Euro 2013 campaign with a win tonight against host nation Israel.
England Under-21s will be playing for pride at the Teddy Stadium in Jerusalem after defeats against Italy and Norway, but Middlesbrough goalkeeper Steele said the squad are determined to end on a high.
The Young Lion, who will be hoping to make his first appearance of the tournament, explained the mood in the camp: “It’s been pretty flat. We’ve worked ever so hard over the last couple of years to get where we are and to qualify for the tournament so it’s been disappointing obviously the first two games.”
On the match this evening, Steele knows it’s going to be another hard test. He added: “It’s a lovely stadium and obviously we’re playing the home nation, so there’ll be a big crowd here and a lot of expectation on them.
“We’re going to have to play a really good game and hopefully come out with three points and end what’s been a difficult campaign on a high.”
