England Under-21 squad named for Euro qualifiers with San Marino and Lithuania
Gareth Southgate has named his squad for the Euro qualifying double-header against San Marino and Lithuania.
The Under-21s Head Coach has picked a 24-man group for the games, for which the Three Lions travel to face San Marino on Thursday 10 October before returning to take on Lithuania at Ipswich Town’s Portman Road on Tuesday 15 October.
And Southgate has opted for an attacking group of players as England look to take control of their qualifying group.
There is a return to the squad for Tom Ince, after injury ruled him out of this season’s previous games with Scotland, Moldova and Finland, along with Raheem Sterling, who figured against Scotland in August and was on senior duty for September’s games.
West Ham United’s Ravel Morrison is also back in an England squad with his first Under-21 call-up after previously being capped at U16, U17 and U18 level.
Burnley striker Danny Ings is rewarded for his excellent start to the season with a first England call-up at any level, after reaching double figures for the season with the Championship high-fliers.
With Andre Wisdom starting a four-game suspension after his red card against Finland last month, Arsenal defender Carl Jenkinson has been brought into the squad.
The squad meet up at St. George's Park on Sunday evening and will train there until Wednesday, when they travel to San Marino for Thursday's game.
It's then straight back to England and the south-east to continue preparations for the game at Portman Road against Lithuania the following Tuesday.
