The England Under-21 midfield duo will miss trip to Azerbaijan through injury
England Under-21s will be without the services of two key players as they fly to Azerbaijan today for their penultimate Euro 2013 qualifier.
Both Henri Lansbury and Jack Rodwell will not travel with the squad, but will hope to meet up upon their return to England on Friday. If fit, they may both yet play a part in the final qualification fixture against Norway at Chesterfield's Proact Stadium on Monday 10 September (kick-off, 7pm).
Lansbury, having suffered an ankle injury in pre-season, is not fully fit and will stay with his new club Nottingham Forest in a bid to be involved in the Chesterfield fixture.
Meanwhile, Manchester City's new signing Rodwell reported a strain after his side's 3-2 win over Queens Park Rangers. Rodwell too, will remain with his club in a bid to recover.
Head Coach Stuart Pearce will not call up any new players as cover for the pair.
England Under-21s fly from Birmingham to Baku, Azerbaijan, this afternoon, ahead of Thursday's fixture (kick-off 4pm BST).
