U17s Head Coach John Peacock reflects on the match with Italy.
England U17s began the St. George's Park International Tournament at Burton on Wednesday night with a defeat against Italy in the Pirelli Stadium, and Head Coach John Peacock
analysed his side's performance and the result with FATV after the game.
Peacock's Young Lions, who have become the first England team to train and use the facilities at St. George's Park this week, went into a two goal lead through Mason Bennett and Charlie Colkett, only for the Italians to storm back and win the game by 3-2.
"It was the old cliche of a game of two halves," said Peacock. "We played really well in the first half and I was delighted with the performance.
"The Italians tried to press us really really hard in the first five minutes, but we got through it and got two very good goals.
"It was a poor goal to concede just before half-time and that gave the momentum back to the Italians.
"The Italians had the better of the second half and we got a little bit complacent and conceded too soft goals which was disappointing
"We have more positives than negatives, but I'm disappointed to lose the game."
