England got their European qualifying campaign off to an emphatic start with a 6-2 victory over Kazakhstan in Baku, Azerbaijan.
Everton's Luke Garbutt grabbed the opening goal with just two minutes on the clock before William Keane doubled the advantage on 16. When Benik Afobe made it 3-0 just eight minutes later the game looked beyond Kazakhstan, but two goals in two minutes dragged them right back into the contest. Islambek Kuat and Nikita Utrobin were the Kazakhi goalscorers.
John Peacock's side took their now slender lead into the half-time break, but Robert Hall, on for Connor Wickham, settled England's nerves by registering his first of two goals on 66 minutes. He made it 5-2 just minutes later, before Afboe sealed the win with just five minutes remaining.
England's next game sees them take on Azerbaijan on Wednesday.England
