Hallam Hope scores twice as U16s win in Montaigu.
England U16 3-1 Ukraine U16
The Montaigu Tournament

Stade De La Vie, St Gilles Croix De Vie, France
The England U16 side got their Montaigu Tournament campaign off to a solid start with a 3-1 victory over Ukraine in St Gilles De Vie.
Everton's Hallam Hope opened the scoring for Kenny Swain's side on 18 minutes, but Ukraine equalised just after the break. However, parity didn't last long as Raheem Sterling, who has recently joined Liverpool from QPR, restored England's lead just a minute later. Hope sealed the victory from the penalty spot on 68 minutes.
With Japan and Gabon also in England's group for the Montaigus, this tournament represents the first time these players would have played against non-European nations, one factor that could enhance their development in the game.
Last year's intake of U16s triumphed in this tournament after beating Germany on penalties in the Final and this 3-1 victory sets the Young Lions up nicely for a real shot at a title defence.
The other match in England's group finished Japan 3-0 Gabon and England meet Gabon tomorrow.
