Former England goalkeeper Chris Woods looks back on the 6-0 win over San Marino at Wembley in 1993.
Woods played in that 1994 World Cup qualifier at Wembley, but was not called into action too often as Graham Taylor’s men eased to victory.
Now on Everton’s coaching staff, the former Sheffield Wednesday ‘keeper earned 43 England caps and here he looks back on one of the easier nights of his international career.
He said: “I look at games and I think to myself ‘what have I contributed?’ Obviously I didn’t have much to do in that game, I was more of a spectator really.”
Woods also issued a warning to whoever Roy Hodgson selects in goal on Friday night.
He added: “You have to prepare correctly because if you don’t do that and you don’t get the right result then you’re going to get hammered by the media, so it is important you go out and make sure you do the job you’ve prepared for.”
