England’s World Cup squad has arrived at their official base camp in South Africa.
Fabio Capello and his 23-man squad touched down at Johannesburg’s OR Tambo airport at 8am BST this morning (Thursday) and were then driven by coach to the their World Cup base, the newly-built Royal Bafokeng Sports Campus in Rustenburg.
Capello, who yesterday signed a new deal committing him to the England Manager role until 2010, said: “It’s good to be here.”
The entire team were welcomed at the camp by local dignitaries and residents who appeared incredibly proud to be hosting the England team.
Depending on how well England do at this summer’s tournament, the squad could be calling Rustenburg ‘home’ for more than a month.Keep up to date on all the latest England news throughout the World Cup at TheFA.com/England
