Sven-Goran Eriksson will name his squad for the England v Denmark match here on TheFA.com on 10 November and, with Paul Scholes undergoing surgery on Tuesday, it looks as though the Manchester United man might struggle to be back in time...
The 28-year-old underwent surgery on a groin problem yesterday and is expected to be out of action for up to a month.
A statement on Manchester United's website said: "Paul Scholes's groin problem has reoccurred and he has had to have surgery to both groins. He is likely to be out for three to four weeks."
Earlier in the season, Scholes missed four matches with the same injury and it was thought that the problem had healed.
With Sven naming the squad in 12 days time, it seems certain that Scholes, who has won 53 caps for his country, will miss out on England's friendly match against Denmark on 16 November.
The Old Trafford friendly is England's first match in their preperation for next year's Euro 2004 finals, which they reached thanks to their heroic 0-0 draw in Istanbul.
Fellow qualifiers Denmark should provide some stiff opposition for Sven's men as they won a very difficult Group 2, pipping Romania, Norway and Bosnia-Herzegovina to the automatic qualification berth.
The match is the first between the two sides since England won 3-0 in the Second Round of last year's World Cup Finals.
