Deliver a community-led grant giving programme
In 2023, we partnered with the Social Change Agency to review the community sector in Brent and delivered £30,000 of grants to the local community. Their research highlighted a fragmented voluntary sector with limited capacity, infrastructure, volunteers and sustainable funding.
This consultation allowed us to distribute £30,000 of grants through the Community Shield budget, but it also demonstrated the need for deeper structural support and significantly greater investment.
To address this, we committed to a partnership with the Social Change Agency to establish a Place‑Based Giving Scheme for Brent, now known as ‘Brent Giving’, which brings residents, funders and local organisations together to make community investment more coordinated and impactful.
The inaugural funding round awarded over £80,000 to 10 local projects, supporting initiatives focused on food poverty, mental health, youth opportunity, housing justice, domestic abuse and social isolation.
