England Head Coach Sven-Goran Eriksson was a happy man after England did enough to see off Paraguay in their opening game of the World Cup.
The Three Lions made a dream start to the match, taking the lead through an own goal in the third minute, but then had to dig in as Paraguay stubbornly refused to lie down in the second half.
"You always try to do better but I'm happy today. We can play much better but I'm happy. We started the tournament with three points and it's very important."
The scorching sunshine in Frankfurt appeared to sap the energy from England's players as the game progressed, and the Three Lions' performance in the second half was noticably of a lower tempo than the first 45 minutes.
"Maybe we suffered a lot. I think this was a real hot, hot day and I think that knocked us in the second half.
"But most important was the result today, we were suffering but it's a very good start."
England's next game is on Thursday against Trinidad & Tobago, who opened their World Cup campaign with a clash against Sweden.
