VIDEO: Michael Owen pre Sweden
England's striker believes the goals are on their way despite a slow start to the tournament.

Michael Owen has insisted England fans will see the best of him when the Three Lions start playing well.

The profilic 26 year old has scored 36 times for his country since making his debut against Chile in 1998, but is yet to find the back of the net in England's two games so far this tournament.

However, the Newcastle man is unfazed and is convinced the goals are just around the corner.

"I don't feel as if I'm playing poorly, tripping over the ball every time I get it or giving the ball away or anything like that. I just haven't scored for a couple of games.

"In two games, I've played around 55 minutes twice and not scored. It's not the end of the world. You wouldn't normally think it's panic stations because it
adds up to little more than one game without scoring.

"It's barely a couple of hours since I last scored against Jamaica and in my last full game before that I scored twice against Argentina.

"But I've been in this situation before. In the last World Cup in Japan I didn't score in the group games and then scored in the second round with Denmark
and in the quarter-final against Brazil.

"It was similar in Portugal for the last European Championships. I've seen it all before, with players like Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer, who got criticised.

"You've got to criticise someone, so it might as well be me, but I've got broad shoulders and I am totally at ease with myself.

"Plain and simple, we're not getting the ball in the right areas and my game is all about the final third. I've had one great chance with a header, which I was really disappointed to miss, but there have not been many chances about.

"I'm not one to go and get the ball on the half-way line and create something myself - although I did it once against Argentina.

"I'm not a player like Wayne who is involved all the time. My job is to get into the box and, if there are the right sort of balls played into the box, I'm totally confident in myself that I can finish them off.

"My game is about darting runs across defenders and hopefully when we play well, you will see the best of Michael Owen.

"Obviously I've not scored a goal in the tournament yet but I've gone longer than one game without a goal before. It's not panic stations for myself and I have total confidence in the lads."
