Gary Neville has revealed he’ll be fit to face Paraguay on Saturday after missing England’s final World Cup warm-up match with a hamstring injury.

Neville said: "I’m happy with the injury, I think it has settled down after two or three days.

"I would’ve liked to have taken part in the Jamaica game in an ideal world, but that wasn’t to be. I’ve trained this week and I’m hoping to be available for selection for Saturday."

But the right-back, who is in line to make his 80th appearance for his country if picked for the opening Group B fixture, insists his impressive caps tally won’t count for anything - if England don’t win the tournament.

He added: "My thoughts on Saturday are that it will be a milestone in one sense. But I will just be focusing purely, if selected, on the game and, even if I’m not selected, it is purely about Paraguay.

"I’ve said regularly that I want those caps I’ve amassed to count for something and they will only count for something if we win the tournament. Otherwise they’ll only become an appearance-level and that to me is not what my career has been about."
