Peter Crouch wants to continue his excellent goal-scoring form for England throughout the World Cup finals.

The striker scored England’s first goal in their 2-0 win over Trinidad and Tobago and was brought on to replace the injured Michael Owen in Tuesday’s 2-2 draw with Sweden.

Crouch says he was delighted to get his first World Cup goal and have vowed to continue finding the back of the net.

He said: “I have enjoyed playing in the tournament. Scoring in the World Cup finals was a great achievement but I do not want to rest on that.

“Hopefully I can go on and get a few more goals and play in as many games as possible. Obviously, I can make an impact if I come off the bench, but I really want to be playing over the 90 minutes.

“I have scored six goals in six games now and most of those have been from starting games, so hopefully I can keep that run going.”
