David Beckham says he is going into the World Cup in perfect physical condition and at the peak of his career - and he is convinced England can win it.
Beckham joined in full training with the Three Lions at their Hertfordshire training base yesterday and looked sharp, fit and motivated.
Now he is backing Sven's men to go all the way at the World Cup this summer.
"I think we can do it," he said "The belief in the team comes from the young lads and the experienced lads and the coaching staff and the manager. We know we do have the ability.
"You also have to have self belief to do well in the tournament and we have it."
Beckham admits he didn’t peform to his very best in the World Cup in Japan four years ago, when he faced a race against time to recover from a broken foot to play in the tournament. But this time he is 100 per cent fit.
He said: "The good thing is I am going into this World Cup without any broken bones! I feel great physically and mentally, I feel perfect.
"Also, even though I haven’t won anything I’ve enjoyed it this season and I’ve played well. I’m happy with my own performances. Leading into this World Cup it’s important for everyone to feel that way.
"I feel there is more to come from me. I believe that I have at least another four or five years left in my legs and hopefully that will be as an England player as well as a Real Madrid player."
Beckham has extra incentive to win the World Cup, too, because he would love to parade the trophy at the new Wembley in future.
He said: "I would love to lead the team out at this stadium, at the new Wembley, as defending world champions - that would be the perfect scenario.
"The last time I played here was one of my worst moments in an England shirt when we lost to Germany.
"It wasn’t nice waking down the tunnel after that game. It was horrible. You have to move on, and we have done with the new stadium, but the memories are still there.
"I’m certainly enjoying this visit more than that day, that’s for sure. It’s the first time I have been down here since it was knocked down, and it’s great.
"It’s coming together and to be part of this place is going to be incredible. Whatever happens we have got a stadium that is going to make every England fan proud."
