Some of the biggest stars in Women’s football will be on display when Macclesfield Town host The FA Tesco Women’s Community Shield between Arsenal and Everton on 7 August.
England Women internationals such as Faye White, Fara Williams, Jill Scott and Kelly Smith, who scored four goals at last year’s World Cup, will all feature in the season's curtain-raiser at Moss Rose in front of the live Setanta Sports cameras.
The FA are no strangers to hosting games at Macclesfield Town with their England C Team drawing a crowd of over 4,000 in 2004 for a friendly against Iraq.
And Macclesfield Town chairman, Mike Rance, is hoping that local fans will come out and show their support for female football which is still the fastest growing sport for girls across the country.
"We are delighted to have been chosen to host The FA Tesco Women's Community Shield at the Moss Rose. Women's football is ever popular and we have our own affiliated ladies club with eight teams.
"We hope to see many families from around the North West supporting what will undoubtedly be a fun occasion."
Arsenal Ladies are one of the most decorated clubs in Women’s football with ten Premier League titles, nine FA Cup Final victories and a UEFA Cup win to their name.
But Everton are slowly narrowing the gap and beat the Gunners 1-0 in last season’s Premier League Cup Final.
Last year’s FA Women’s Community Shield was put on ice due to the World Cup in China but the two sides met in 2006 at Crewe’s Gresty Road with Arsenal securing a 3-0 triumph.
Tickets for the game on 7 August are just £5 for adults and £2.50 for children and concessions.
Groups of 15 people or more can take advantage of an FA discount with tickets at £3 for adults and £2 for children and concessions.
For details on purchasing tickets visit the Macclesfield Town website or call 01625 264686.
