The FA today confirmed that The FA Women's Cup Final sponsored by E.ON will take place at Nottingham Forest’s 30,602 all-seater stadium, The City Ground, on Bank Holiday Monday 7 May 2007.

This year’s prestigious final will also be broadcast live on BBC One for the sixth consecutive year.

The announcement comes after Monday’s FA Women’s Cup Fourth Round draw pitted last season’s winners Arsenal away to Stockport County and if Nottingham Forest were to win their postponed Third Round tie, they will travel to either Frome Town or Newquay AFC.

Mark Arthur, Chief Executive of Nottingham Forest FC, said: “We are delighted to be hosting such a prestigious event.

“It gives Nottingham Forest the opportunity to welcome many of its female supporters to The City Ground to watch the highest profile women’s football event in the UK and with The City Ground being based in the Midlands, people from all over the country have the chance to come along to the Cup Final and share in what should be a wonderful occasion.”

The 2007 Final will be the first played under the sponsorship of E.ON and forms one part of a wider partnership the energy company has with The Football Association. E.ON are also Sponsor of The FA Cup, The FA Youth Cup and Partner of The FA Schools Development Programme.

Helen Merrick, Director of Brand at E.ON UK, said: “We are very excited that the first E.ON sponsored FA Women’s Cup Final is to take place at The City Ground. Nottingham is central to E.ON both in terms of our customers and our colleagues."

The record attendance for The FA Women’s Cup Final was in 2001 when 13,824, turned out at Crystal Palace FC to see a London derby between Arsenal and Fulham.

Last year Arsenal completed the ‘Double’ when they defeated Leeds United 5-0 in the Final at Millwall’s New Den.

Peter Hough, Vice-Chairman of The FA Women's Football Committee said: "We aredelighted that The FA Cup Final will be held at Nottingham Forest Football Club. The club has a fine tradition, a first class stadium and I hope that fans, families and teams from across the region, and the country as a whole will help us break the record attendance next May."

In recent years The FA Women’s Cup has been a celebration of the women’s game, with hundreds of girls’ and women’s teams from across England travelling to cheer on the finalists.

This year, Nottingham City Council and the East Midlands Development Agency are committed to putting on an entire Bank Holiday ‘festival of football’ and the leader of Nottingham City Council, Cllr Jon Collins added: “We are delighted that The Football Association chose Nottingham as the venue for the 2007 FA Women’s Cup Final.

“The City Council sees this event as a valuable addition to an already impressive list of major national and international sports events in the City and we welcome FA Cup sponsors E.ON, who now employ more than 3000 people in Nottingham."
