Women's Cup comes to the BBC
Friday, 13 December 2002.
The Final might not be until May, but The FA Women's Cup will kick-off in style today at the BBC's Match of the Day studios.
The Fourth Round draw will be held at BBC Television Centre and should throw up some interesting ties, with all the top flight clubs entering at this stage.
The draw will be hosted by Ray Stubbs, who fronted BBC1's live coverage of the Final last season. The balls will be drawn by CBBC Exchange presenters Angelia Bell and Joe Challands.
Ray Stubbs said: "I am delighted to host the Fourth Round draw of The FA Women's Cup. I enjoyed hosting BBC's coverage of the Final last year, which was a great showcase for the women's game. I hope the draw will throw up some great ties for the Fourth Round and look forward to watching the progress of the competition."
The Fourth Round will take place on Sunday 5th January on FA Cup weekend, the day after the men's Third Round matches.
The Cup Final will again be shown live on BBC1 this season, scheduled for Bank Holiday Monday May 5th with a 1.00pm kick-off. Last season's Final on BBC1 attracted an audience of 2.5 million.
Players from previous winners Arsenal and Charlton Athletic, as well as current holders Fulham are attending the draw to find out their fate.
