Semi Final – Sunday 10 December 2006

Charlton Athletic v Leeds United
Arsenal or Nottingham Forest v Chelsea

Chelsea's reward for their shock 2-1 away win over Everton is an away tie to either Arsenal or Nottingham Forest, who will play their quarter final on 19 November.

The draw means that The Blues will once again 'go on the road', but Manager Shaun Gore is more than up for the challenge.

"The girls did really well yesterday" Shaun told TheFA.com "although it was a little 'tin hats' time in the second half!

"The girls battled and hustled which we knew we'd have to do because of the quality of the Everton side."

This time last season Chelsea were struggling in the league and had only earned one point, a record which resulted in them needing to beat Liverpool in a play-off to retain their National Division status. So what has changed?

"At the end of last season we added five players to the squad and not only have we added some quality but there is now competition for places.

"At the moment we've got nine points and a local derby coming up against Fulham in the League; we've tightened up the defence and have pace in attack, so on our day, we feel we can get a result against anyone."

With a semi final against either Arsenal or Nottingham Forest to come, Shaun knows that more of the fighting spirit shown at Everton will be required, if his side are to reach the Final.

"Forest by all accounts are a very well run club who have come a long way in recent years" continued Shaun, "although most people would be looking at Arsenal to win through that tie.

"Arsenal are on a different level at the moment and they have quality all over the pitch. One thing that we have increasingly in common though is how the parent club is increasingly taking girls and women's football under its wing.

"We are a club in transition, but by investing in youth, we have girls in England U15, U17, U19 and U21 squads {such as Ellen White above] and those are strong foundations to build on.

"If we come up against Arsenal, most people won't give us a prayer, in the same way Forest will be rank outsiders to get a result too, but these are games that as players you work all season long for, and none of my players will require any geeing up for an FA Women's Premier League Cup semi final, whoever the opposition are."

Holders Charlton Athletic have been rewarded for their 6-0 quarter final victory at Lincoln City with a home semi final tie with Leeds United in The FA Women's Premier League Cup.

Julie Chipchase, Leeds United's Manager told TheFA.com: "At this stage whoever we were going to draw was going to be tough. Charlton have done well in this competition over the past few years and I am sure we will be looked on as the underdogs, but the way I have seen how we can perform on our day this season, I every have every confidence in my players.

"We have enough quality in the squad to make it through to the final and we gained vital experience from our FA Cup run last season. I want Leeds United to be up there challenging for everything, and this game gives us the perfect opportunity."
