The Bolton and Bury Girls’ Football League is proud to be hosting a high profile pre-season friendly for The FA Women’s Premier League side, Blackburn Rovers against Manchester City Ladies on Saturday 9 August. The game at Ladybridge FC in Lostock, Bolton kicks-off at 2pm with admission being free for everyone.
The game itself will coincide with a drive by the Bolton and Bury Girls' league to increase the number of teams for the 2009-10 season.
The league provides football for age groups ranging from U10s to U16s, playing in various forms, including 7v7, 9v9 and 11v11.
"It's great to see our Senior Girls' and Women’s Club in Blackburn Rovers assisting with the growth of grassroots girls' football," said Mike Nadal, Lancashire FA's Girls' and Women’s Football Development Officer.
"We are hoping that lots of people will come and enjoy the day and it will inspire them to provide the opportunity for girls to play football in their own club in their local community," he continued.
The Bolton and Bury League and the Lancashire FA will host a meeting of all interested clubs at a later date to provide continual support around all the issues of supporting a new Girls team. This will include advice on funding and the recruitment of players and volunteers.
The day will commence at 11.45am where two coaching sessions will take place using The FA recognised Blackburn Rovers Girls Centre of Excellence, The FA Tesco Skills Coaches team and local players from clubs involved in the Bolton and Bury Girls League.
