Blackburn Rovers Ladies have completed the double signing of influential Liverpool duo Chantelle Parry and Faye McCoy.
Left winger Parry, a former England youth international, became well known to Rovers officials after scoring a stunning hat-trick in Liverpool’s 3-2 victory over Adam Lakeland’s side in last season’s Premier League Cup quarter-final.
Eleven days later and England U19 striker McCoy followed suit with two league goals of her own, as Liverpool secured a second successive 3-2 victory at Clitheroe’s Shawbridge Stadium.
Rovers’ assistant manager Kieran Bentley said: “The girls will be very good characters to have around the squad and are both hungry for success.
“We’ve been keen on Chantelle for some time. She’ll add pace and quality down the left-hand side. She is a match-winner, with a real eye for goal. She can turn a game on its head in an instant, as we learnt to our cost last
season.
“Faye is also a quality signing for us. She will add strength, power and height to the squad, which is something that we’ve lacked in the past. She will provide us with a new dimension to our play.
“She’s underrated technically, she knows where the goal is and she just loves to play football. She can also play in a variety of positions, as she has operated both up front and as centre half for Liverpool, but also in central midfield for England.”
The Rovers coach also confirmed that more new signings are on the way, whilst youngsters Emma McDougall, Karen Hanson, Jo Norris and Sammy Fleck would all be stepping up to the first-team fold for the 2008-09 season.
Goalkeeper Sian Payne and striker Caroline Dixon, who has secured a four-year scholarship in the States, have both left the club however.
