Leeds United give themselves an important confidence boost ahead of The FA Women's Cup Final with a 4-0 win. |
Leeds United v Watford The FA Tesco Women's Premier League 2pm, Sunday 18 May 2008 Harrogate Railway FC
FA Women's Cup finalists Leeds United Ladies will finish their season at Harrogate Railway FC on Sunday 18 May when they face Watford Ladies at 2pm.
And the club is offering free admission to the game for any child accompanied by a paying adult.
It's the final game in a remarkable season for Leeds, which has seen them finish a best-ever third in the FA Women's Premier League and reach the FA Women's Cup Final for the second time in three years. And earlier this week they took their first-ever point off all-conquering Arsenal.
"For me, it's been a great introduction to the women's game," said manager Rick Passmoor. "It's my first season here, first season in charge of a women's team anywhere, and a better group of players you couldn't wish to work with.
"They're all motivated to get to the top of their game, but still working as a team - you saw that in the cup final earlier this month.
"We've said all along, this is a very young side, but as they gain more experience they'll be more than capable of taking on anyone. I would really like us to finish on a high against Watford, we weren't on form last Sunday against Cardiff and although it has been a very long season for the girls I want them to give one last push and finish with a good performance and a win."
The FA Women's Cup Final was played out in front of a record crowd of almost 25,000, and Leeds are hoping that some of their new fans make the trip to Harrogate on Sunday.
"It would be lovely to see a big crowd for the last game and it will, I'm sure, lift the players to make that one last effort," said Mel Vauvelle-Don, Leeds's chairperson.
"It's been a very long season for some of them, with international duties for many, and I think they deserve all the support and recognition they get.
"We are very grateful to Harrogate Railway FC for allowing us to use their facilities for our final game, it gives some of the local people of Harrogate a great opportunity to see some of the best women's footballers in the country."
Admission on the gate for the game is £4 for adults, FREE to any child accompanied by a paying adult and £2 for any other children.
