Liverpool scored a significant victory over Premier League rivals Birmingham City, as they edged away from the bottom of the table with a narrow win.
Kelly Jones scored the only goal of the game which saw the Reds put six points between themselves and the Blues - although the midlands club still have a number of games in hand.
In ninth place with just goal difference separating them and Chelsea, Liverpool will now be looking for a strong finish to their return to the top flight.
Arsenal bounced back from their Premier League Cup Final defeat to Everton with a 4-0 win over Leeds United, while Mo Marley's side continued where they left off at Leyton Orient by winning 4-0 at Cardiff City.
Doncaster Rovers secured the third four-goal win of the day, this time over Charlton Athletic, with Emily Heckler, Vicky Exley and a Carla Cantrell brace wrapping up a fine win for the Belles.
In the other game of the day, Chelsea secured a narrow win over Watford thanks to an own goal from Katherine McKenna.
