Blackburn Rovers took advantage of Arsenal's Premier League encounter being postponed to take second spot in the table with a narrow victory .

Arsenal were due to play Leeds United, but the game was called off due to the weather and Blackburn came from behind to go three points ahead of the Gunners, although Vic Akers side do have eight games in hand.

Karen Hanson gave Blackburn the lead after just five minutes, taking a lofted through pass round the Doncaster keeper and guiding the ball into the empty net.

But the visitors hit back and were leading at the interval thanks to goals from Precious Hamilton and Liz Hansen. But Blackburn were not to be denied, and promptly set about their task in the second period.

Katie Anderton levelled the scores with a fine finish, before Nicky Twohig smashed a bullet header into the far corner to give the home side the three points.
