Reds finish on high

Liverpool showed just why they are the FA Women's Premier League Northern Division champions this season as they picked up all three points in a 4-1 win against Newcastle United.
On the day Liverpool were to receive the winners' trophy in front of decent home crowd they found themselves a goal up after only one minute when Newcastle lost possession and Chantelle Parry raced onto a through ball to round Emma McEnaney to give The Reds a dream start.
The Magpies brought on midfielder Karen Hutchinson for Vicky Greenwell which meant a re-shuffle across the back four at half-time.
With both sides looking to attack in the perfect conditions it was The Reds who put the result beyond doubt scoring three quick goals in just over five minutes.
On 67 minutes Kelly Davies finished from close range following a Liverpool corner that the Newcastle defence could only half clear to make it 2-0. The third goal was scored from thirty yards when a Gill Hart effort flew into the top corner giving Emma McEnaney no chance.
Liverpool`s fourth goal was a cool finish by Tammy Byrne after the ball came back off the woodwork with Byrne being the first to react from four yards.
Newcastle continued to give their all and a Melanie Reay free kick was well blocked and Magpies substitute Stacey Simpson fired in a shot only to see her effort hit the crossbar.
Newcastle finally managed to beat the Liverpool 'keeper when a Kelly Ridley free kick was headed against the Liverpool bar but Jo Cartwright was on hand to force the ball over the line to make the final score 4-1 to the champions.
