England star Rachel Unitt was on the score-sheet with a second-half header to help Everton beat Birmingham City by three goals to one.
Fellow England striker Jody Handley chipped in to give Everton the lead, only for Maria Ballard to break free from the home defence to level matters.
Despite a hard-working display from Birmingham, Everton took the lead through Unitt's powerful close-range strike before Becky Easton's looping header from an in-swinging corner sealed the points.
The win helps the Merseyside outfit leap-frog Charlton Athletic - who drew 0-0 at Bristol Academy - into second space.
They remain three points behind leaders Arsenal after the Gunners were also triumphant at home in their 5-1 drubbing of Fulham.
At the other end of the table, Birmingham stay bottom a point behind Chelsea.
