| Doncaster Rovers Belles v Chelsea: Highlights |
| Doncaster Rovers' Vicky Exley talks through the action in her side's 3-2 win over Chelsea. |
Charlton reclaimed top spot yesterday after a 6-0 demolition of London rivals Fulham. Arsenal, Doncaster Rovers Belles and Bristol Academy were yesterday's other victors.
It took Eniola Aluko just 30 seconds to open the scoring in a convincing 6-0 victory for Charlton over the Cottagers, which takes the Addicks back to the top of the league.
The Addicks early strike came as Sarah Snare slipped the ball through the heart of the Fulham defence for Aluko to run onto, push the ball past keeper Leanne Hall and into the empty net.
In the 4th minute, Snare, who has just returned from England U21 training, was pulled down as she approached the edge of the area. Jo Potter found the bottom corner of Hall's goal with a sweetly struck free-kick to extend the Addicks lead.
With 28 minutes gone, Jo Potter sent a superbly flighted ball to the far post where Gemma Ritchie sent a header low past Hall.
Snare added the fourth on 41 minutes as she ran onto a ball over the top of the Fulham backline to cooly slot the ball past the increasingy isolated Hall.
Hall made a great double save from an Amanda Barr penalty and Maria Bertelli's follow up but on 78 minutes Barr did get the ball in the net as she met Karen Hills cross with a low diving header.
With five minutes left, Barr added the Addicks sixth goal, curling the ball into the far corner.
Doncaster Rovers led Chelsea 3-1 in TheFA.com's featured match of the weekend at the break, and although the visitors pulled another goal back, the Belles held out to take the points and stay third.
Nina Downham had opened the scoring for Chelsea two minutes in but the hosts hit back with three goals in a ten-minute blast by Pauline Hammill, Bobby Todd and Julie Twaddle.
Amy Found netted on 46 minutes for the Londoners, but they could not stop the Belles' recent run of good form continuing.
England midfielder and Belles captain Vicky Exley told TheFA.com: "We're really pleased with the win and the three points as it keeps us competing with Arsenal, Charlton and Everton.
"Last season we really struggled at the bottom of the table, but we signed some good players this summer and have really turned it around."
Arsenal were six goals to the good by half-time, in a 7-0 win at Birmingham City. Ciara Grant, Lianne Sanderson (2), Jayne Ludlow, Kelly Smith and an own goal put the Gunners in total control, Sanderson completing her hat-trick in the second half.
Draw specialists, Bristol Academy, built a two-goal lead over Leeds and held their 3-1 advantage to take all three points and climb above United. Steph Curtis scored all three for Bristol before a late consolation from Karen Burke.
