We travelled all the way there only to find that it was off. It was strange because Keith [Boanas, the Charlton manager] phoned Bristol up and they said that the game was on but then referee made the decision that the pitch was too dangerous to play on.

It was very annoying because to me the pitch looked fine apart from a couple of areas where there was some standing water. They offered to put some sand down but the referee wasn’t happy with that.

What is worse is the fact Everton went back above us at the top of the table as they beat my old team Fulham. The league remains really tight this season with us and Everton at the top but Arsenal are lurking just behind the leaders with games in hand. We are just going to do our best and try to win every game that we can and hopefully Arsenal will slip up.

We now have a break for Christmas but I will still be keeping up with my individual training programme over the festive period. I am really looking forward to it Christmas more for my son Harvey more than anything else.

He is old enough to understand it this year and will be unwrapping his own presents. I haven’t bought him anything to do with football though as he already has so many footballs here and he got a goal for his birthday so he is sorted.

As well as my individual training I will also be doing a few sessions with Charlton. Whatever happens I won’t be taking easy on Christmas day, you have got to have the full whack, it’s not Christmas if you don’t!! I will just run a bit harder the week after!!

It is nice to have a break from football and this season already feels like it has been going on for ever. I think it’s because it has been so tough this year and we have been working really hard. It’s a long season as we have the European Championships in June so it is nice to have a rest.

I am really looking forward to the Championships already, they are going to be great and hopefully I will be in good shape and ready for them.

Hope you all have a great Christmas and I will speak to you all again in the New Year.
