Scotland striker Fleeting bagged a hat-trick to take her goal tally to 12 in eight matches since joining the Gunners at the end of January.

Despite clocking up their 10th successive League win, however, Arsenal are still second in the table as leaders Charlton Athletic won 1-0 at Leeds United thanks to a ninth minute goal by captain Casey Stoney.

The Addicks are two points ahead of second in the table Arsenal, but their fixtures are now completed while the Gunners have one game remaining.

Victory in that last match will therefore give Arsenal the title, but their opponents – none other than arch rivals Fulham - may have something to say about that.

A 3-2 win at Doncaster Rovers Belles meant that third in the table Fulham can take the title by beating Arsenal then winning their final match, at home to Birmingham City.

Should the Cottagers draw at Arsenal, however – and the teams drew 1-1 in their October meeting at Fulham – then Charlton would be crowned champions.

The intrigue could go right to the very last League games of the season, but the favourites could now be Arsenal thanks to the goal power of former San Diego Spirit star Fleeting.

Already-relegated Villa had no answer to the prolific striker, who opened the scoring in the 21st minute then completed it with her second and third goals in the 60th and 69th minutes.

Between those goals there was one each for Ellen Maggs, Jayne Ludlow and Jo Potter followed by two from Republic of Ireland international Ciara Grant - who has now hit the net 14 times from midfield in the current campaign.

There was also a double strike by Fulham’s Tammy Waine as the Cottagers beat Doncaster to keep alive their hopes of retaining the League title they won last season as part of a tremendous treble.

Former England captain Karen Walker gave Donny an 18th minute lead, but it lasted just two minutes before Gemma Ritchie grabbed the equaliser.

Waine then put the visitors ahead on the half hour, but this time the Belles produced a quick response with England midfielder Vicky Exley levelling the scores in the 36th minute.

After Waine had struck her 12th goal of the season seconds before half-time, though, the home side could not force a second equaliser and will have to settle for a fifth-place finish – one slot below their Yorkshire rivals Leeds.
