Mo Marley's England U19s got off to the perfect start in their attempt to qualify for the European U19 Championship Finals with a 4-0 win over Moldova.
England are involved in a four nation mini-tournament which will see one of the sides qualify join the other six group winners and hosts Hungary in the Finals in late July.
With tough-looking games against Italy and Norway coming up it was imperative that the young Lions got off to a good start and that they did with a comprehensive win over Moldova in Azzano Decimo.
Everton midfielder Amy Kane got England off to the perfect start when she drilled home after 25 minutes. The goal was just reward for an England side who had controlled much of the play in the opening stages of the match.
England continued to run the play and 16 minutes later they added a vital second goal to take the match away from the Moldovans.
Danielle Bird, who had enjoyed an energetic display in midfield, scored and England added to that with second-half goals from Sunderland's Steph Houghton and substitute Heather Scheuber of Birmingham City.
England's next match is against Italy in Tiezzo di Azzano on Thursday 28 April.
