An elegant yet physical midfielder, Jill has has enjoyed a rapid rise this year, that has seen her becoming very much involved in the England senior squad at a young age.
Jill made her debut this season, coming on in a World Cup Qualifier at the Valley Jill settled quickly into the midfield and helped England to a comprehensive 4-0 win over rivals Holland.
That taste was enough for Jill to work even harder and make sure she remained part of the squad, and in playing 30 minutes against Germany in October Jill showed her growing maturity. There Jill made her full debut, again against the World and European Champions Germany, this time the scoreline was an impressive 0-0 draw.
At the World Cup it was more of the same as Jill played in every game, and grabbed her first international goal in the victory over Argentina.
With a strong season for Sunderland and some fine displays for England under-19s, the side which she has captained for the last 18 months, Jill was called into the England squad for the World Cup qualifier with Hungary in May 2006.
