A tigerish and tenacious tackler, Katie is a vital part of the midfield in protecting the defence and winning any 50-50 balls.

For England her caps tally is an incredible figure given that she has just recently turned 25, and her performances in China show we she has become such a fixture in the English midfield.

Strong and committed, Katie is very dominant in the air and will never give less than 100% in a challenge.

Katie was unfortunate to miss out on England's final group game of the World Cup after she picked up bookings against Japan and Germany, but in her three performances in China she showed just how much she has to offer.

At 16 years of age she made her debut for England U18s, captaining the side. She was awarded her first England senior cap at just 17 and is now a regular member of Hope Powell’s squad.

Katie scored her first international goal in a World Cup qualifier away in Holland in March 2002.

Katie took a break from playing football in the 2002-03 season while she was pregnant with her son Harvey. She made a victorious comeback in August 2003 as Fulham won The FA Women’s Community Shield.

In the summer of 2006 Katie joined Arsenal and scored on her debut in The FA Women's Community Shield victory over Everton. In the two remaining matches of the World Cup Qualifying campaign she helped England reach China, and notched up her 50 caps in the crucial away game with France.
