Arsenal Ladies Head Coach Vic Akers has revealed that Faye White could be ruled out for most of this season.
"Faye ruptured her anterior cruciate ligaments in her right knee in a pre-season friendly match with Bristol City on 16 July" said Vic. "The injury caused her to come off late in the first half and, she will gain a more detailed prognosis after a meeting with the surgeon, as to how long she will be on the sidelines."
Speaking about the setback, Faye said: "I’m extremely disappointed to be out of training with this injury. I know I will be out for a while yet and I wish Vic and the rest of the squad every success on the pitch.
"We’re aiming to retain our League title this season, and definitely improve our performances in Europe. I’ll be backing them every step of the way".
The injury comes at a critical stage in the Captain’s international career with two crucial World Cup qualifiers also on the horizon against Holland and France in August and September.
