England v Hungary
Women's World Cup Qualifier
Thursday 11 May 2006
Southampton FC, Kick-off 7.05pm
Live on BBC3

The England squad named by Hope Powell this morning to take on Hungary has two changes from the group that defeated Austria 4-0 at Gillingham's Priestfield Stadium last month.

Kelly Smith and Katie Chapman are rested, Eniola Aluko will miss her second international in a row due to her first year University exams, and whilst Fara Williams will join up with the squad, she is suspended for the game having collected her second yellow card of the European qualifying campaign against Austria.

Casey Stoney who had to sit out the Austria game through injury will once again be in contention for a starting position in the back four.

Coming into the squad for the first time are two teenagers who most recently played for the England U19s last week in Romania.

Arsenal's double winning striker Lianne Sanderson is on the brink of her first Senior cap, crowning a fantastic season, including a Player of the Match performance in Monday's FA Women's Cup Final.

Joining her is Sunderland midfielder Jill Scott, another player who has impressed in her first season in the FA Women's Premier League National Division with Sunderland, and who has captained the U19s for the last eighteen months under Mo Marley.

Looking ahead to the game, Hope told TheFA.com: "I know i've been saying this for a while now, but we have to remain focused for the last three fixtures,
as we cannot afford any complacency.

"A lot of people will see that Hungary have lost all five games in the group and conceeded 28 goals, but we're not about to start thinking that we only have to walk onto the pitch to secure the three points.

"Bringing Lianne and Jill into the squad is just reward for not only their form this season, but their progress at both club and international level.

"Lianne's performance against Leeds United was indicative of her talent, whilst Jill is also another one for the future, and shows some real similarities in her game to Steven Gerrard, both being box-to-box players who can screen the defence, as well a scoring goals."

Tickets for the game are now on sale priced £5 for adults and £2.50 for concessions. Tickets can be purchased from the Southampton FC ticket office or by calling the ticket hotline on 0870 220 0150.

Special group discounts are available for groups of over 15, with tickets costing just £1 per person, you can download your group booking form by clicking here or at:
