A record 38 leagues have entered the 2007/2008 FA Carlsberg National League System Cup. The competition gets under way in the early part of 2007 and continues through to the Final which will be played in May 2008.

Leagues Manager Mike Appleby was delighted with the increase in entries adding that “A number of leagues outside the National League System were invited to enter the Third edition of the competition and I am delighted that a number have accepted. The competition is growing in stature and we are looking forward to some keenly contested matches in the coming months.”

The Preliminary Round has thrown up an interesting Cheshire derby with the Mid Cheshire League, the winners of the inaugural competition, taking on their local rivals from the West Cheshire League. There will be 7 ties in the Preliminary Round. The First Round draw has paired Channel Island rivals the Jersey Combination who will have home advantage against the Guernsey Priaulx League.

The holders of the cup, the Isle of Man League are rewarded with an exemption to the Second Round of the competition leaving them clear to concentrate on their preparations for the UEFA Regions Cup. The side travel to the Czech Republic for the qualifying group matches against the Czechs, Slovakia and Northern Ireland in April.
