The very young Sevenoaks outfit was ultimately overwhelmed by Lewes in last night's FA Youth Cup tie at Greatness Park.

Some hard graft in midfield kept the score at 0-0 for half-an-hour but there were two goals before the break and six after, as the Sussex side ran riot to progress to the Second Round Qualifying.

There was no hint of what was to come as Sevenoaks conjured up a couple of early chances and denied the visitors with a fairly efficient offside trap. The first goal arrived on 31 minutes, David Wheeler surging down the right and beating the 'keeper with a low shot into the far corner when everyone was expecting a cross.

Three minutes before half-time, another Wheeler effort bounced down from the top of a post for Fred Scott to make sure on the line. There were three goals inside an 11-minute spell early in the second period as the fleet-footed Lewes attackers found time and space to move in on goal.

Matt Foreman and 'Med' Koroma swept in two shots and a Foreman cross to the far post was inadvertently thumped into his own net by Sevenoaks' left-back. Then the home side had a better spell when they might have notched a couple themselves, but it wasn't to be their night.

Foreman made it six on 73 minutes and the referee spotted a push inside the box three minutes later, leading to a spot-kick that Scott comfortably converted although the 'keeper went the right way.

Koroma, who was almost unstoppable in the second half, raced through the middle to score the eighth on 81 minutes. However, the scoreline was a little unkind to Sevenoaks, who played well in parts.
