Oldham Athletic's youth coach Tony Philliskirk is hoping that the prospect of a home tie in the Third Round against Sheffield United will be a huge incentive for his player's in Wednesday night's FA Youth Cup game against Lincoln City.
"If we get through the game against Lincoln, it will be a great opportunity for us to pit our wits against a top Academy team," he said.
"The match against Lincoln will also give the team a chance to play on the first team pitch - a great stage for them to perform on. It will give them a good indication of what it is like playing for a first team."
For two players however, this is not new territory. Paul Black, 17, and Aaron Chalmers, 16, have both played for the Latics' first team this season and Black was on the bench for the senior team's FA Cup replay win over Doncaster Rovers on Tuesday night, as well as being on England Under-21 squad standby recently.
"We've got some great players and have done really well with the youth team over the years," added Philliskirk.
However, for all his optimism, he does not dimiss Lincoln's ability to pose them a serious threat.
Philliskirk, a former Bolton Wanderers and Burnley striker, added: "I saw Lincoln against Boston in the First Round and they gave a very good account of themselves.
"They're not going to be a push-over but The FA Youth Cup is a big thing for the boys and they are all really looking forward to the game."
Both sides scraped through the First Round Proper on penalties, with Oldham beating Wrexham and Lincoln running out 5-4 winners against Boston United.
The other match taking place on Wednesday is Aldershot against Rushden and Diamonds. Rushden are coming into this on the back of their 5-1 drubbing of Grays Athletic in the First Round Proper.
