Manchester City's Academy Coach Alex Gibson has tipped his young squad for even bigger and better things after seeing them beat Chelsea to win The FA Youth Cup Final.
City striker Daniel Sturridge, who missed the second leg through injury, has already made a first-team breakthrough and Slovakian winger Vladimir Weiss was the name on everyone's lips at the City Of Manchester Stadium on Wednesday, after inspiring the Blues to a 3-1 victory and a 4-2 aggregate win.
"We do an awful lot of work here on forward play, movement and dribbling and that's starting to show at youth level," said Gibson.
"Vladimir's got a fantastic ability to run with the ball, and what we've been working on is team understanding and game play, which he's latching onto.
"The scouting network here is excellent and Vladimir's been great from the moment we brought him in."
Gibson believes City have found the right blend as their Academy continues to prosper.
"We've a very good local and international scouting network, and I think a great Academy is where you get a mixture of those players," he added.
"Six home-grown boys in the team have been working with me on the training field since they were nine. One or two came in at 14 and 15, and one or two were brought in at 17.
"I think if you get one player through to the first team it's a success, but we're trying to push as many as we can through and we'll be continuing to work with our daily development to enhance that."
