Chelsea Academy Manager Paul Clement says his team have learnt a lot from their FA Youth Cup campaign, despite losing The Final to Manchester City on Wednesday evening.
The young Blues lost 3-1 in the second leg at the City Of Manchester Stadium for a 4-2 aggregate defeat, but Clement believes the players will benefit from the experience.
"The run started back in December against Stevenage and we've learnt a lot about ourselves," he explained.
"Hopefully the experience of playing in front of big crowds when the pressure is on has added something to their development."
Chelsea were appearing in their first Final in this competition in 47 years and after a 1-1 draw in the first leg at Stamford Bridge, were confident of victory.
Unfortunately, it wasn't to be for them this year but with a number of highly promising players in their squad, they are sure to be challenging again soon.
"It's been a long time since Chelsea have been in an FA Youth Cup Final and we're very proud of what we've achieved this year," added Clement.
"Unfortunately we've fallen at the last hurdle and obviously we're very disappointed not to win the trophy but it's been a great journey.
"And when we play our Third Round game next season, our aim will be exactly the same, and that's to go and win the trophy."
