Charlton Athletic sauntered into the Quarter Finals of The FA Youth Cup with a 5-1 rout of Swindon Town at The Valley.
Two goals each from captain Scott Wagstaff and Jonjo Shelvey plus a strike from Ben Godfrey did the damage for Charlton, as they followed up their 6-0 win over Sheffield United in the previous round to the delight of the club's Under-18s manager Damian Matthew.
"It was a great result. I must give credit to the boys," beamed Matthews.
"To score that many goals at this stage in The FA Youth Cup is very pleasing. We have a side full of flair.
"We have a set way of playing that's key to their development and it's about them knowing when to use the right option."
Charlton skipper Wagstaff's performance was also praised by Matthew.
"He is an example of what Charlton Athletic is all about. He's come through our Community system and he's had a fantastic education. We've given him a pathway to succeed. That's what we're all about."
A fluid front three of Wagstaff, Godfrey and Danny Uchechi caused havoc for the Swindon defence and the home side were four goals ahead within 26 minutes.
The first goal came when a Rashid Yussuff cross was parried out by Town keeper Mark Scott, and arriving late in the box, Shelvey slotted home.
Charlton's lead doubled soon after when a counter-attack led by Wagstaff culminated in Shelvey prodding home to score his fifth goal in this season's competition.
A relentless Charlton increased their advantage when Wagstaff coolly lifted the ball over Scott in the Swindon goal and within a minute it was four. Shelvey had a shot parried by Scott, following a bombarding run, and the ball fell to Godfrey to score.
Swindon, managed by former Wales international Paul Bodin, gave themselves a glimmer of hope when Ben Joyce capitalised on a mix-up between Charlton keeper Joe Wooley and Rhys Coleman to pull a goal back.
However, Charlton killed off any hopes of a Swindon fight-back when Wagstaff grabbed his second of the night by slotting home in the 55th minute to set up a home tie with Sunderland next Wednesday.
